About Us

SongBike is the final product of over three decades of teaching the guitar! The website reflects what I have learned from teaching countless students like yourself.

The lessons here are divided into three sections: Songs, Skills, and Smarts. You can structure your musical education by balancing your goals with the videos in these categories. The website will continue to evolve and new videos, advice and inspiration will be added frequently.

Music is a journey and every step brings rewards. Enjoy!

Here’s a little about me: I have studied music since 1979, focusing first on drums and orchestral percussion (thanks Mom and Dad!) and later guitar, banjo, mandolin, violin, voice and piano. My teachers were good guys who, you could tell, really loved music. I was an eager student – at ten years old I asked my band director when I should join the musicians’ union! I just knew I was going to spend my life playing music. Since then I have made a living by:

  • performing music
  • writing music
  • repairing instruments
  • managing a music store
  • hosting a radio show
  • recording an album of original songs
  • producing and engineering for other artists
  • teaching music since 1992 in homes, music stores, public schools, Catholic school, my living room, on TV, on-line and since 2006 at my own music school, Corner Music in Connecticut (thanks to my wife Cheryl for being my partner in that ongoing endeavor!) Students have ranged from ages 3-83 and include many Special Needs children and adults.

Teaching felt very natural to me from the start (thanks Hogeye Music!) but I’m always looking to learn and improve as an instructor. Let’s work together!
